Cradling!
Sunday, February 15, 2009Don’t get me wrong here; I am not citing a part time achievement of acquiring a baby sitter role! This is a last week incident which started as a casual get together, a distinct one. Few of us decided to gather at a pub next to office during the happy hours for talk other than regular Java or related technologies that makes the life bread.
It was initially a bit difficult for me to get the groove and converse in the typical phrase and slang of US English. Slowly I was into the rhythm and was better off in speaking on many things. I could hit a common ground of music I listen and the never ending Indian way of things – be it traffic in Bangalore, the lifestyle, the cuisine and so on.
There was another colleague of ours who joined with his little baby girl – a cute darling who is weeks old. Everyone was enchanted by her sweet face and the way she cuddled up in her sleep. Soon she was handed over to others who were ready to take her in their arms. I was evidently scared, for I have never taken such a small kid.
The question was soon posed – “Would you want to take her?”, as if in a trance, I slowly took the girl in my arms. The scare was spread across my face and was blushing lightly. The entire gang was looking at me, making me nervous. There were cheers to egg me on. The feeling was unbelievable and I was soon comfortable, but before long, I gave the baby back to her mother.
An experience to a future endeavor – may be!
