Walk on Water!
Monday, February 09, 2009Well, there has been some talk in my team to make me adventurous as the cold Minnesotan weather demands one to be! I have landed right at the beginning of winter, to my office here in Minneapolis. The first few months were spent with least interest in anything as work and winter were raging war. I was proactive to enroll myself into the central library and devour some books with an initial zest. Again, the interest ceased to prosper as day to day activities took precedence with calls to my team members back home in place of dreams in the night!
Ideas were pouring in during the team meetings some of them went far as to push me to the street when it’s freezing cold and so on, the thought of which still runs a chill down my spine. The weather was wavering between below zeroes to somewhere positive in the past weeks. Finally this Friday, the idea of “walking on water” came up and won the majority poll.
We drove down in cars to Lake Calhoun, a beautiful one in the Minneapolis area. We parked the car and trotted slowly to the lake. The first view itself was breathtaking for me. An entire stretch of fluffy snow spread across the whole lake. An unimaginable scenery depicting calmness as the lake was completely frozen
The next part of the plan was to do the miracle of walking on water. I was carefully entering the lake from the bank where my team was positioned and was precarious of my normal shoes which might give away and make me slip. The ice was solid hard and a bit slippery. Within minutes, I was standing on the lake and that was the moment of glory ! I could feel the happiness spreading on my face as read by my team!
