Melody in Maldives

“Once a year, go some place you’ve never been before.” Dalai Lama

We were pumped as the days neared for our trip to Maldives, the island paradise. True to my nature of planning, things were all set as we flew down in SpiceJet, relishing a sandwich and munching on the cashews. Flight was uneventful and little did I know that there was a jumpy boat ride awaiting us. After a smooth immigration, we were met by the expanse of vast ocean, right in front of the airport. The ride of a lifetime was about to commence – with the accompaniment of a cloudy sky and soon to be rains. Never expected a rocking welcome as the boat hopped and hummed a heavy metal on the waves. I was strumming along with my stomach twisting and turning. A trip lasting decades, I counted each of the 45 minutes it took to reach the fun island. Unaffected by any of it, my better half was happily filming the journey and there was even a bloke sleeping through it reminding me of the Mr. Bean movie and the roller coaster scene.

The first awe filled impression – pristine turquoise or a greenish blue colored lagoon surrounded by dark blue waves, an invisible nature’s line of control and each side on a friendly duel trying to wipe the other with their colors. Every gentle wave was lapping the shore as we walked the wooden bridge from the jetty to the resort.

A small rest and then we started our explorations with the sights thrilling us and filling the minds. Had a small trip to a nearby island, a stones throw away – framing some beautiful moments in our camera, the day was of utmost joy. Nights were spent into spotting some white sharks and with blue colored fishes paying visits. Weather was tricky as the sea was at times rough and rains spoiling some good times. Though we missed the sunset due to clouds, the following days were equally relaxing with attempts to do some water sports, opting out at the last minute. The swims in the shallow waters were another highlight as I had mixed feelings while standing near the shore and dreaming, by looking at this humongous water body stretching endlessly all round.  I was trying a panoramic view through my eyes, which no camera could capture in all its essence. There was a small strip of white sand exposed in the sea and it was pure pleasure walking on it.

As it was time to return, the memory of all the moments was creating a perfect Melody in Maldives for us!!
