Return to Almora, by RK Pachauri

This book came as a shock – I would better say, it came down striking a blow, shattering preconceived notions beguiled by the back flap of the book. True to me, I didn’t read any reviews before embarking on the ‘spiritual’ journey along with the protagonist Sanjay Nath. The loosely connected, titillating events or ‘carnal’ pleasures in his life with vivid descriptions turned me off instantly.
As the initial scenes unfolded, I made myself believe it could be for setting a backdrop for driving the whole importance of meditation, self discipline and the life beyond. Alas, I was drawn into the whirlpool of further escapades, making me wanting to finish this for I bought this!
There were some other books mentioned as references which seem an interesting pick and the other thing I liked is towards the end when he gives a simple way of explaining spiritual being which gets lost in the ‘masala’ throng that permeates the entire book.
