Interviews - On and on !
Monday, September 17, 2007On every passing year, I claim more experience in my field of expertise – at least I am being convinced of my abilities and a reassurance to be elevated. Starting as a developer of software programs, I am now at the pedestal of leading few team members. As I stay optimistic, the bleak ray of hope penetrates my mind, reviving my spirits.
I wouldn’t want to persist in day dreams as the meeting invite for another interview pops up in my calendar – Another of those endless sweet torments from colleagues in the recruitment team. Like everyone else, on a quick reflex, the invites are closed and I ornate a serious mood. The interviews prove as an eye opener, a reflection of self at those times when I was shifting jobs, times of passion and adventure in seizing greater opportunities and decent pay packets. Soon I found myself in familiar grounds of technology, expecting answers from the candidate in front. It was a quick wind up and as I rushed to complete the regular formalities, a thought flashed in. Was I being unfair in judging the candidate? Could he be a merited one who carried the desire to be among the giants of retail industry?
These small humane questions peep in mystifying me and I am being won over by my consensus as the answers given by the candidate were of not adequate standards. I started developing a small aversion towards doing further of them. It has become monotonous as it incorporated similar set of questions. There have been days when I was the replacement for some other interviewers who occasionally bypassed them.
Well, it’s for a good ‘cause’ that keeps me going in the midst of all these!
