Winter in Minneapolis!
Tuesday, March 20, 2007Happened to get a chance to work with my onsite team for a month - The trip this time was to Minneapolis! - That too in winter :) I never had the remotest idea of the situation I was landing to. I have heard that winter in some areas were pretty wonderful with heavy snow making it practically impossible for commuting... Anyways I was excited again as it was a change from the normal work style here...
The taxi drive from the airport to the hotel was a different experience. The roadsides were all covered with snow, trees without any leaves just bare with the branches awaiting spring and no one outside their homes. It truly reflected the depression, the sober feeling of winter. The moment I got out of my taxi to the hotel, I was getting the feel of winter. I recollect I stepped out of the cab and I was feeling the rush of cold wind all over. It was very cold. I just dragged my luggage and reached the hotel very fast and had a coffee to revive myself
I could see snow falling in one of the weekdays. I was gazing the white beautiful snow through the glass windows of 10th floor where my cubicle is. It was flying all over, with a motive to make everything cold in its way.
I visited a waterfall, the Minnehaha falls in that weather. That proved to be the ultimate experience though there was no daring feat involved. I went there with a colleague of mine on one of those cold weekends. We parked the car and moved towards the falls. I was dumbfounded by the very sight of the falls. It was a complete frozen falls with no water and only ice in its beautifully sculpted shape.
It was difficult to explain the feeling. I wanted to have a snap taken but was difficult to open my eyes due to cold. Somehow I managed to strike a glamorous pose while my friend took the snap. Couldn’t keep my hand back into the gloves as it was terribly numb. We rushed off to our car and I could hardly feel my nose and face.
In all, the winter in Minneapolis was a memorable one. I could vividly recall the commute to office through the skyways with meeting numerous people. They were very presentable with smiling face and kept me smiling at them.

3)But.... try to make ur narrations more than just diary entries.... see what others fail to see, ie be more imaginative... ur language is too good. so a little imagination will do a lot of magic... :)))
