Another Drive!
Sunday, September 06, 2015
This Saturday, I had the adventure of a recruitment drive – this time for fresh
graduates out of college. I have been immensely enjoying this activity for
years now. May be it is a distant memory of being in their shoes a decade ago.
I used to be part of the drives as a candidate with nervous mannerisms in
writing the competitive test, the newly found courage to take part in group
discussions and trying the best to give an approach for the tricky questions
from the panel. I could at least see a
few promising candidates with the brightness of getting through the hurdles of
aptitude and puzzles we set for them.
The whole event starts with
a preparation, the responsibility falling on to you unknowingly and you take
charge of question preparations, the planning of logistics with other team
members and so on. On the day, it is all about un-planning and re-planning the
strategies based on the sheer numbers of candidates, the hubbub of interviews
and the crackle of jokes among the panel and the volunteers when we sit down
for lunch or during the overseeing. There would be snacks and tea breaks where
everyone shares the experience of interaction with candidates, in jest and serious
tones.
All in all, it is an event to
remember and the final wrap-ups where we collate the numbers and hope for the
best ones to join our bandwagon is when we truly get the feeling of a day well
spent!
