Candle light Curd-Rice!
Monday, November 30, 2009
It was one of those days in office wherein time sprawls around a zillion things. A ‘designer’ email lazed around in my email inbox, announcing the birthday of a colleague. Soon, it made a mark in the neighboring cubes of my team members and hushed murmurs around the content ensued – the comments were centered on the email not of the ‘standard’ template!! The reference was to an email sent a year back with a bouquet inside and being re-used for all occasions with the exception of names changed to match the character in limelight.
There was a thought to celebrate this b’day in a different way – to add a creamy tone by cake cutting. The idea was thrown in during a team meeting and I had my ‘lateral think engine’ on, to oppose this with silly reason of this not being done for others. Needless to say, my silly remark was tramped by majority and we ended up in a choco mocha cake that looked scrumptious.
The awaited hour came and the birthday boy came in to cut the cake – there were office jokes about estimating the cut to fit everyone‘s appetite. A question was popped – “What’s the plan for tonight?” Before the answer, I had a devilish thought given the advantage of sitting far and busy in polishing the piece of cake. I blurted “Candle light Curd Rice” :) and there were giggles all around me. Before it rose to a menacing laughter, I could gleefully vacate on the pretext of a non existent call!!!!
